Alaskan Bounty Posted December 23, 2009 -

Webmaster got to go out on the boat last Sunday. What a great Christmas gift. Even with the winter steelhead run a few weeks away, Joel and I were able to harvest a hatchery fish each under Ryan's watchful eye. Very little action in the morning except for 3 nice trout. Then we launched again in the afternoon for our second run of the day and within minutes had our first steelhead hammering down on the rod tip. Joel hooked it up and selflessly handed the rod over to me to reel it in. How many guys would do that? What a shock to be suddenly responsible for landing the first fish. After stumbling around the boat from the adrenaline rush, I was able to get the fish's head up into the net and we got the fish netted. The pressure was off. Joel hit his casts well all day and was also able to find the second fish a little later on. I had Cajun broiled steelhead on my mind all day as we were fishing. Had some rain off and on, but unseasonably warm weather made it more than bearable. Ryan filleted both fish for us. Soon I was off to my kitchen to fullfill a vision. The family enjoyed a special dinner that evening. I could still feel the boat moving under my feet as I sat in my warm house with a satisfied appetite and great memories of a successful fishing day on the Wilson. Contact Ryan or Ricky to book a trip.
